Pinch Media - How to Succeed in the App Store
Developers advised to use strategy and to time their actions
Pinch Media, the specialist in mobile analytics, has posted a neat slideshow that offers all the knowledge the company has gained since the App Store went online. Tracking the venue up close, Pinch Media claims that you can learn a thing or two. Care to know what those are?
“Since AppStore's launch, Pinch Media has provided developers with an analytics library to monitor app usage – unique users, sessions, usage time etc,” the company's slideshow begins. “Since AppStore's launch we've also been collecting every bit of detail possible from the App Store – rankings, price changes, you name it – and tying it back to our analytics.”
Pinch Media continues, saying that “Our stuff's in a few hundred applications right now – it's been in the #1 free and paid application several time each, and has been in at least ten of the top 100 free applications for a while now. With all of this data, you learn a few things.”
According to Pinch Media, the advantage of appearing on a top 100 list increases daily new users by an average of 2.3x. Greater gains result from appearing in the top 25 and top 100 lists – more variable, but often an order of magnitude, Pinch Media asserts. However, the advertising-focused firm claims this is not permanent. Apple's App Store is structured for maximum turnover, according to the analysis.
